It’s All on the HMS Wellington
One of our charitable objects is education of the public and of schools and colleges in the history and traditions of the Royal and Merchant Navies emphasising the importance of seaborne trade to our island nation.
Our continued ambition is that members of the public, young and old, can learn about the significance and importance of the maritime sector to the UK, and the role of HMS
WELLINGTON during the Battle of the Atlantic.
As part of the HMS WELLINGTON revitalisation project, we are planning to include a visitor attraction for the general public. This will tell the remarkable story of HMS WELLINGTON and the role of the Royal Navy and Merchant Navy services, digital education platforms and our interactive and experiential “Full Steam Ahead” simulator where visitors can virtually take the helm and experience the war torn waters of the North Atlantic Most importantly, all can learn about those that fought in the Battle of the Atlantic and their sacrifices.

On education, thousands of school age children have visited HMS WELLINGTON over the years.
For many, stepping aboard HMS WELLINGTON has been their first time on a ship. We have an active education programme tied to the national curriculum. As part of the HMS WELLINGTON revitalisation programme, our education activities are under review.
